A McKeesport woman faces a preliminary hearing Friday in connection with a crash involving a school bus.
Lakeya Dodoo, 42, is free on her own recognizance pending proceedings before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi.
According to a police report, on the afternoon of June 2, a black Ford Fusion sedan collided with the bus on Eden Park Boulevard, not far from the McKeesport Area High School campus.
The report states that witnesses told police that prior to the crash, the car was seen heading north on Eden Park, driving erratically and swerving into oncoming traffic to pass other vehicles.
No passing is allowed on Eden Park Boulevard, which is marked with a solid double-yellow line.
One witness told police he was attempting to exit a business near Renziehausen Park when the car forced him off the road.
Police said the sedan struck the driver’s side of the school bus a short time later. There were 12 students on the bus, plus the driver, but no injuries were reported, police said.
Police identified the driver as Dodoo and said a retired police officer detained her at the scene. According to a report, Dodoo told police she was late for work and that the other drivers on Eden Park Boulevard were “driving too slow.”
Dodoo is charged by McKeesport police with 14 counts of recklessly endangering other persons, and one count each of reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving at unsafe speeds.
