A McKeesport woman is free on $25,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing on charges related to a May 2 shooting that sent another woman to the hospital.

Olivia Faith Lynn Lewis, 22, is charged by McKeesport police with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Building 55 of the Crawford Village housing development just before 6 p.m. when a ShotSpotter sensor detected a gun shot. A 9-1-1 call was received one minute later, reporting a shooting.

When they arrived, police said, officers were met by Lewis, who they said told them, “I shot her — she came here to fight me, so I shot her.”

Police located the victim, 27, a short time later on Brownlee Avenue, where she was suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Officers said that Lewis and the victim had previously argued and fought on multiple occasions. According to the report, Lewis and her mother were watching television when the victim came to their front door. Police said that Lewis believed the victim was about to attack her, and shot at her, striking her in the leg.

Police said that Lewis then called 9-1-1 to report the incident.

Detectives recovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol at the scene, as well as one spent shell casing, the report states.

Lewis was arraigned May 3 before Magisterial District Judge Nik Pappas. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 12 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi.
