White Oak’s 2021 street paving project is complete, borough engineer Ken Hillman reported on Monday.

Hillman provided updates on the borough’s ongoing infrastructure projects during council’s workshop meeting.

“The borough building is nearly finished. Electrical work at Heritage Hill Pool will begin within a month,” Hillman said.

A public hearing to discuss home demolitions is scheduled for Nov. 15.

In related news, borough residents Jean and Henry Mackler addressed the council regarding storm water runoff at their residence.

Borough solicitor Patricia McGrail advised the Macklers the issue is a private matter, not one for council to resolve.

“But you can meet with the borough manager and the engineering chair to see what can be done,” McGrail said.

Officials said the Center Street extension project will begin in late November or early December, and that the council will also discuss the status of their grant applications on Nov. 16.

Borough manager John Palyo said officials have submitted a request for proposals for an animal control contractor and are working on next year’s municipal budget.

Councilman George Pambacas, who chairs the health & environment committee, proposed buying a new gate for Heritage Hill Park to combat illegal garbage dumping.

“We need a 40-foot gate for the park…about $3,100,” Pambacas said. “We adjusted the cameras outside the pool. I also think the mayor should speak to the police chief about an increased patrol at the park.”

The next council workshop meeting will be held 6:45 p.m. Nov. 15 at the White Oak Municipal Building. Members of the public are welcome, and residents and taxpayers of the borough are free to make public comments.
