The White Oak Rotary Club will hold a fall dance at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the White Oak American Legion to commemorate the “King of Vinyl” and fellow Rotarian Rich Antoncic, a long-time club and radio disc jockey.

Tickets cost $15 per person. Entertainment will include Antoncic, The Platinum Band, MC Lois Scott, and 2 Broke Country Girls. The proceeds will benefit the rotary club’s charitable projects, such as the Salvation Army and the White Oak Animal Safe Haven.

Rotarian Larry Anlauf said, “We’ve been hosting this dance for about six years. We use it to raise general funds, like our golf outing.”

There will also be a cash bar and food. Table reservations can be made by calling (412) 500-5314.

In addition to raising general funds, the Rotary Club is involved in many community projects. Their recent accomplishments include installing handicap-accessible ramps for local residents, and building a new catio for the White Oak Animal Safe Haven.

“[Events like this are important] because it brings awareness to us and the organizations we’re trying to support,” Rotarian Sue Striffler-Galaski said. “It’s all about community involvement. We want to people to have a fun and relaxing time, and to raise more funds for charity.”

In addition to the Salvation Army and the White Oak Animal Safe Haven, the White Oak Rotary Club also raises funds for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and awards 25 $1,000 scholarships to McKeesport Area High School seniors every year, club members said.
