Carnegie Library of McKeesport will hold its annual Christmas party from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at the main library, 1507 Library Ave., said Vincent D’Alesio, library director.

The location is a change from the previously announced party at the Palisades. “There are many who simply cannot get transportation to Downtown, so we feel that having the party in our own building will encourage more participation,” D’Alesio said. “Same event, same time, new place.”

The event includes pizza, games, music and treat bags. Cost is $5 per family (up to four people) and $1 for each additional person, due upon registration. Partygoers must register in person by Dec. 13.

There will be a party at the Duquesne branch of the library at 4 p.m. Dec. 14.

Other events at the library in December include:

Family & Friends CPR Class: Care Heart CPR will provide instruction in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation at 11 a.m. Dec. 10. The class is for anyone who wants to learn CPR, but does not need a certification card to meet a job requirement. The class is designed for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters or anyone else simply interested in learning the fundamentals of CPR. Registration is requested.

Holiday Concert: The Mon Yough Chorale will perform at 2 p.m. Dec. 12. The event is sponsored by the McKeesport Music Club and is free and open to the public. The event will include refreshments, a raffle and a photo exhibit.

“Swampland to Steel Mills”: The library will present “Swampland to Steel Mills: Pittsburgh’s Industrial Revolution” at 2 p.m. Dec. 13. Susie Toman, educator and tour guide for Rivers of Steel, will explain how Pittsburgh’s geography helped shape it into the epicenter of the steel industry.

Children’s Events: Preschool Storytime is held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the White Oak Branch and 11 a.m. Thursdays at the McKeesport branch. There will be crafting sessions featuring “Sock Snowmen” at 4 p.m. Dec. 8, “Spin Art” at 10 a.m. Dec. 11 and Christmas ornaments at 4 p.m. Dec. 15.

Family Movie: “A Muppet Christmas Carol” will be screened in the children’s room at 10 a.m. Dec. 18. Popcorn will be provided.

Face masks are required for all participants over age 2.

Other activities include sign-language classes at 10 a.m. Wednesdays in December, “First Chapters” at 10 a.m. Mondays in December (online), and programs for teen-agers.

For more information or to register for any program, please call (412) 672-0625.
