A Glassport man is being held without bond in the Allegheny County Jail on charges that he sexually assaulted an intellectually disabled woman who lives in a Downtown apartment building.
Lanny Williams, 54, was arrested July 26. He faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 14 before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi in McKeesport.
Police allege that Williams, who worked as a security guard in the victim’s building, forced her to have sex on July 23.
An affidavit of probable cause states that a caregiver called McKeesport police after she picked up the victim at church. According to police reports, the caregiver told officers that the victim, who is in her 60s and has developmental difficulties, had described the details of unwanted sexual intercourse.
The victim was taken by ambulance to UPMC McKeesport hospital for an examination, according to reports. Police then interviewed the suspect, identified by the victim as Williams.
An affidavit states that Williams told police the victim had made similar allegations against him before and that he had known her for more than 30 years. Williams told investigators any contact with the victim was consensual, reports state.
McKeesport police have charged Williams with rape by forcible compulsion, rape of a person who suffers mental disability, sexual assault, indecent assault, harassment, burglary and criminal trespass.
Williams was denied bail at an arraignment July 27 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Ceoffe.
Court records do not indicate whether Williams has obtained an attorney for legal representation.
