Tube City Community Media Inc. is seeking freelance writers to help cover city council, news and feature stories in McKeesport, Duquesne, White Oak and the neighboring communities. High school and college students seeking work experience are encouraged to apply; we are willing to work with students who need credit toward class assignments. Please send cover letter, resume, two writing samples and the name of a reference (an employer, supervisor, teacher, etc. -- not a relative) to firstname.lastname@example.org. (4-11-2023 to 4-30-2023)
Ads start at $1 per day, minimum seven days.
McKeesport's International Village is Aug. 16, 17 and 18 --- less than a month away!
We are once again producing a video webcast of International Village, and your donations are now tax-deductible as allowed by law. (P.S.: Webcasts from previous years are still online.)
But it all costs money. We would like to raise at least $750 to defray our expenses ... including our hosting, along with Skymagik Internet Services, of the International Village website --- which we do at no cost to city taxpayers.
If you're at all able to make a tax-deductible donation, we would very much appreciate it. PayPal will instantly email you a receipt, and we will send you an acknowledgement by U.S. Mail. (Be patient --- we were really slow at getting those out last year, but we are going to try to do better this year.)
If your business or organization would like to advertise during our International Village webcast, we need your information right away! Contact me at email@example.com or (412) 614-9659.
For $150, we will make a minimum of one 30-second announcement for your group, business or organization every hour, plus we will run a banner ad on Tube City Online for at least 30 days.
For $250, we will make a minimum of one 60-second announcement for your group, business or organization every hour, plus we will run a banner ad on Tube City Online for at least 60 days. (Advertising does not qualify as a charitable contribution.)
Deadline to get a commercial produced and on the air is Aug. 8.
Thank you for supporting Tube City Online.
In the wake of the closure of the McKeesport Daily News, we are doing what we can to keep information flowing. In the months ahead, we hope to do more, but we can only do it if we can pay for the things we need.
Remember, in addition to running Tube City Online, we are also now running an Internet radio station, WMCK.FM, and our obituaries website, McKeesportObituaries.com. Since the Daily News closed, our traffic is way up --- but our expenses have gone up even more, and so is the amount of work that I and other volunteers have to do.
Your gift helps. Believe me.
