A city man is charged with homicide in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday night at a home on Flagler Street. Robbery appears to have been the motive, detectives said.

The victim, Reginald A. Hall, 48, was shot in the torso and left leg just after 10 p.m. and died a short time later in the emergency room at UPMC McKeesport hospital, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Jeffrey W. Robinson, 53, is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing at 8 a.m. Sept. 22 before Magisterial District Judge Kim Berkeley Clark.

Allegheny County police said that when Robinson was found just a few blocks from the shooting scene, walking along Enterprise Street, he had blood on his shoes and was carrying a large sum of cash.

Two of the bills appeared to have blood on them as well, police said.

In a prepared release, Allegheny County police said city officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at a home in the 1800 block of Flagler and found Hall inside, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to UPMC McKeesport hospital where he died about 40 minutes later, the medical examiner’s office said.

Prior to Hall’s death, county detectives said, McKeesport police obtained a description of a suspect and relayed it to other responding units.

A county police officer spotted a man — later identified as Robinson — walking along Enterprise Street a short time later, police said. Robinson was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Robinson is charged by Allegheny County police with homicide, robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
