The Mon Yough Area Chamber of Commerce is moving to new, larger office space in Versailles Borough.

Executive Director Maury Burgwin said last week the chamber has outgrown its space on the second floor of McKeesport's former municipal building at the corner of Lysle Boulevard and Walnut Street.

The chamber is relocating to the Versailles Professional Plaza on Walnut Street, across from Olympia Shopping Center. The move should be complete Oct. 28, Burgwin said.

"It has a better layout and room to grow," he said. "Right now we don't even have a conference room --- but we will in the new location."

Briefly known as the "Regional Chamber Alliance," the Mon-Yough Chamber moved back into McKeesport in 2009 from space on Jacks Run Road in White Oak.

Through mergers with neighboring chambers, it has grown in scope and now represents businesses and non-profit organizations in 35 municipalities, from Forward Twp. in the south to Castle Shannon in the west, all the way over into the Turtle Creek valley.

The chamber now represents more than 300 businesses that together employ 60,000 people, Burgwin said, and it added seven new members last week.

Upcoming events include a women's networking luncheon at Westwood Golf Club in West Mifflin at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 19; a seminar called "Communicating with Millennials" at Youghiogheny Country Club in Elizabeth Twp. at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 2; and a new member recruiting event at Westwood from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 17.

For more information on those events or the chamber, call (412) 678-2450.
