An East McKeesport man was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a shooting at his apartment. Allegheny County police have charged one of his neighbors in connection with the incident.

Timere J. Johnson, 21, of East McKeesport is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person in the shooting, which happened at an apartment building on Woodmont Avenue. Police say the victim was in critical condition Tuesday night at AHN Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, witnesses overheard Johnson and the victim arguing after the victim returned home with his girlfriend and their child. Police said the dispute is alleged to have stemmed from the noise made by the victim’s car, which was parked outside of Johnson’s window.

The affidavit states that according to the witness, the two men argued and the victim was overheard saying he was “not scared of a gun.” Police said the witness attempted to intervene and stop the argument when the man later identified as Johnson fired at the victim, who fell to the ground.

The witness told police the suspect then took a few steps back and shot at the victim at least once more.

Police said Johnson later called Monroeville police and advised the dispatcher that he wanted to surrender in connection with what he described as a “self-defense incident” that had occurred in East McKeesport. North Versailles Twp. police arrested Johnson at a residence on Caldwell Avenue in Wilmerding. Officers also recovered a 9-mm pistol at the address, according to the affidavit.

Police said the victim suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Johnson is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing Dec. 4 before Magisterial District Judge Roxanne Sakoian Eichler.
