The death of a West Mifflin woman at the Allegheny County Jail on Tuesday morning has been ruled a suicide.

Jamie Gettings, 33, was found hanging in a cell at the Pittsburgh facility just after 2 a.m., said Allegheny County Jail Warden Orlando Harper.

"Medical (personnel) responded to render medical assistance, however, she passed away," Harper said in a statement. Allegheny County Police are investigating, he said.

On Wednesday, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said Gettings died as the result of suicide by hanging.

According to court documents, Gettings was arrested by the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office on a bench warrant issued by Pittsburgh Municipal Court. Court documents indicate that Gettings had been scheduled to appear in court to be sentenced in connection with a charge of driving with a suspended license.

Court records indicate the plea was never entered and a warrant for Gettings' arrest was issued Feb. 26.
