UPDATED to clarify that the shooting did not involve the prom.
A McKeesport teen-ager was killed early Friday morning in a shooting on Pittsburgh's South Side, less than a week before she was to graduate from high school.
Morgan Dunston, 18, died at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Uptown, of injuries received in the incident, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said. An online fundraising campaign has been created to help the family to defray funeral expenses.
Dunston was a senior at McKeesport Area High School, and friends said she was leaving a dance when the shooting occurred. Although McKeesport held its senior prom Thursday night, Dunston did not attend, said Kristen James, district spokeswoman.
"This young lady was an active student within our high school who was slated to graduate next week," said James, who called the shooting "senseless."

UPDATED to clarify that proxy forms are only required for people unable to get their vouchers in person.
Allegheny County residents 60 years and older who are on low or fixed incomes can get up to $20 in free, fresh produce from neighborhood farmer's markets this summer, with the help of a voucher program.
According to an spokesperson, the vouchers may be used through Nov. 30 to purchase produce that is grown in Pennsylvania or purchased directly from a Pennsylvania farmer.
The vouchers will be distributed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11 at LifeSpan Senior Resource Centers across Allegheny County, including Olympia Shopping Center, Versailles; 530 Miller Ave., Clairton; and at 308 E. 8th Ave., Homestead, as well as at other participating senior citizen centers.
Vouchers are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible residents should bring valid ID with them.

A Philadelphia man died after being shot multiple times Wednesday night at a home in Duquesne.
Ivan Walls, 45, was pronounced dead at a Pittsburgh hospital nearly three hours after the incident, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said.
In a prepared statement, Duquesne police said the incident happened inside a house in the 1100 block of Karl Avenue just before 7 p.m.

A Braddock man is wanted by Allegheny County police in connection with a shooting Tuesday night in West Wilmerding.
Melvin McCane Jr., 36, is charged by county police with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous.
The victim, a 45-year-old man whose name was not released by police, was in stable condition at a hospital.

North Versailles Twp. commissioners have approved acceptance of a $60,000 grant for police car and intersection cameras.
At the commissioners' April meeting, commissioners voted 6-0 to accept the grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Commissioner Tracy Yusko was absent.
The grant was obtained with with assistance of state Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny.

An intermodal facility employing 50 people will be built on 18 acres of the former U.S. Steel National Works near the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge. (Tube City Almanac photo)
A Braddock-based network of companies that operates steel recycling, transportation and materials-handing businesses is building an intermodal facility on McKeesport's riverfront.
City officials and Regional Industrial Development Corp. have broken their silence about plans to create the truck, barge and railroad loading and unloading facility near the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge.
Work began several weeks ago when cranes and a barge appeared on the Monongahela River, but the tenant was not identified until Wednesday.
A new company, River Materials Inc., will use about 18 acres of the former U.S. Steel National Works site for warehousing, processing and recycling and intends to construct buildings for offices, storage and light manufacturing, as well as a railroad car and barge remediation facility, according to a press release.

The owner of a car that is suspected of being involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Penn Hills has surrendered to police.
Allegheny County police said Modesty L. Hopper, 21, of McKeesport is being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending formal arraignment on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Police allege that Hopper's Saturn sedan struck Joseph Morris, 51, of Penn Hills on April 28 and dragged him about a half-mile, the fled the scene. Morris was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car was located in the parking lot of Hi View Gardens on Sixth Avenue in McKeesport on May 10. Police said they have physical evidence that links the vehicle to the accident scene.

Allegheny County police have named a suspect in connection with a shooting on Route 837 in Duquesne that sent a motorist to the hospital.
In a prepared statement, county police Sgt. Venerando Costa said Tarone T. Jones (above), 39, of North Versailles Twp. is wanted in connection with the shooting May 3 of a 30-year-old man near the intersection of Route 837 and Grant Street.
On Tuesday, a warrant was issued for Jones' arrest by Magisterial District Judge Scott Schricker. Jones is charged with aggravated assault and attempted homicide.

A special program at McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center will examine the "past, present and future" of the Penn-McKee Hotel.
The event at 1 p.m. June 29 will include McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko, Matthew Craig, executive director of the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh, and Jason Togyer, executive director of Tube City Community Media Inc. It is open to the public, a Heritage Center spokeswoman said.
Located on Fifth Avenue near the McKee's Point Marina, the hotel was designed by noted Pittsburgh architect Benno Jannsen and was the site of the first debate between future presidents John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon.
