A McKeesport woman died following a one-car crash Saturday afternoon near the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge.
Levona Hawkins, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Allegheny County police said the wreck happened in the 500 block of Pirl Street just after 4 p.m. The vehicle in which Hawkins was traveling was found over a hillside. Police said she had been thrown from the car.
The county police homicide unit and collision reconstruction unit are investigating, police said, and are seeking witnesses to the crash.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous, police said.

Foul play is not suspected in the death of a man who was found unconscious in a swimming pool at a home on Grandview Avenue Monday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Kurt Bills, 34, said the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause and manner of death are pending an autospy.
McKeesport police Chief Adam Alfer said Bills had been swimming with a family member at home. The family member went inside for a brief period of time and came back outside to find Bills unresponsive.
Paramedics were called and attempts were made to revive Bills, Alfer said, but he was pronounced dead at UPMC McKeesport hospital. Police are awaiting the medical examiner’s ruling, he said.

A McKeesport woman is free on $25,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing on charges related to a May 2 shooting that sent another woman to the hospital.
Olivia Faith Lynn Lewis, 22, is charged by McKeesport police with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Building 55 of the Crawford Village housing development just before 6 p.m. when a ShotSpotter sensor detected a gun shot. A 9-1-1 call was received one minute later, reporting a shooting.

A McKeesport woman faces a preliminary hearing Friday in connection with a crash involving a school bus.
Lakeya Dodoo, 42, is free on her own recognizance pending proceedings before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi.
According to a police report, on the afternoon of June 2, a black Ford Fusion sedan collided with the bus on Eden Park Boulevard, not far from the McKeesport Area High School campus.

Port Vue police will be tagging and towing cars and trucks parked on public streets without valid inspection stickers and license plates.
In an email, Police Chief David J. Petruski said the enforcement push is an effort “to clean up Port Vue by removing the unsightly junk vehicles that populate the borough.”
Under borough ordinance, vehicles without valid licenses or inspections may be tagged with warning notices. Owners then have 48 hours to move the vehicle off of the road, or rectify the problems, police said.
Petruski said all vehicles parked on borough streets must have valid and current registration plates and inspection stickers.

Three people, including a child, sustained minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when a school bus collided with four cars near the 15th Avenue Bridge.
McKeesport police Chief Adam Alfer said the accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. on Walnut Street just north of the intersection. The school bus, carrying middle-school-age pupils home from an extra-curricular activity, was following four other vehicles south toward Christy Park, he said.
According to a police report, as the traffic reached the intersection at 15th Avenue, the light turned red. Although the first four vehicles stopped for the traffic signal, a preliminary investigation indicates that the bus driver was momentarily distracted and didn't realize that traffic had halted, Alfer said.
“He hit the brakes, but it was too late to stop,” Alfer said.

Three people, including a McKeesport man, died after a car crashed into a blood plasma center on Pittsburgh’s North Side on Saturday morning.
Pittsburgh police said Ronald K. Morgan, 50, was inside the vehicle that crashed into the Biomat USA plasma center in the 1300 block of Western Avenue just before 12 noon. Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two victims, Laura E. Meneskie, 35, of Pittsburgh, and Parveena Abdul, 55, of Clairton were employees of Biomat USA who were working inside the building, emergency personnel said.

A former McKeesport man was found dead early Saturday morning inside a parked car on Riverview Street.
On Sunday night, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jered J. Gambrill, 21. He was pronounced dead at the scene of an apparent gunshot wound.
Allegheny County police said in a prepared statement that a 9-1-1 caller reported a shooting in the 2200 block of Riverview just before 6 a.m. Homicide detectives are investigating but no further information was available.
The medical examiner’s office said Gambrill was living at Lincoln University in Chester County, but it could not immediately be confirmed Sunday night if he was currently a student. Gambrill had been a standout basketball player at Propel Andrew Street High School in Munhall, from which he graduated in 2018.

A Banker Street man who emergency personnel said is a fireworks enthusiast was badly burned Thursday morning in an explosion.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was airlifted by STAT MedEvac helicopter to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh following the incident just before 3 a.m.
The Allegheny County police bomb squad responded to the scene to remove what officials described as a large quantity of fireworks, which were labeled for retail sale and appeared to have been purchased legally.
“Vast amounts, and when I say vast amounts, I mean there were many, many boxes throughout the house,” said McKeesport deputy fire Chief Tom Perciavalle. Some of the fireworks were in the large cardboard tubes of the types sold for public displays, he said.

Two people face child abuse and assault charges after school officials and White Oak police said they found two children handcuffed in the back seat of their car.
According to court records, Richard Hayes, 37, of Mt. Oliver is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bail, while his girlfriend, Natosha Bell, 26, of Rankin is free on $50,000 bond. Hayes faces a preliminary hearing May 19 before Magisterial District Judge Richard G. King, while Bell faces a preliminary hearing June 30.
The two children who were restrained in the car, ages 7 and 10, and a third child, age 11, are now in the emergency care of Allegheny County Children, Youth and Families, said county police Inspector Michael Peairs.
