Pittsburgh Man Charged in April Homicide

A nearly five-month investigation by Allegheny County detectives led to charges being filed this week in connection with the April shooting death of a McKeesport woman.

Gerald Lamar Walker, 37, of Penn Hills is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond on charges of criminal homicide, unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license.

Walker is charged in connection with the April 26 shooting death of Amber Rose Dolby, 38, also known as Amber Bailey. Walker was arraigned Monday and faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 16 before Magisterial District Judge Kim Berkeley Clark.

Beaver County Woman Arrested in Abduction

A Beaver County woman accused of luring a 15-year-old boy from northern Illinois last month was arrested Wednesday night at a home on Versailles Avenue in McKeesport.

Lilandra L. Redman, 20, of Rochester was arrested by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant from McHenry County, Ill., said Tony Griffith, spokesman for Sheriff William Mullen.

Police in Illinois allege that Redman met the teen-ager on social media and carried on a relationship for more than a year, at times using a disposable cell phone that she bought for him.

Two Charged With Falsifying Inspections

An Allegheny County plumbing inspector assigned to the Mon-Yough area approved work that police allege he couldn’t possibly have seen, according to a criminal complaint.

Now, Allegheny County police are attempting to determine whether Timothy R. Chelosky, 53, of McKeesport and Michael K. O’Toole, 57, of Pittsburgh’s North Side accepted bribes from plumbing contractors.

County police last week executed a search warrant at the offices of Matt Mertz Plumbing Inc. in Ross Township.

In criminal complaints filed with Magisterial District Judge Richard Opiela in Ross Twp., police said that the “overwhelming majority” of the inspection jobs that Chelosky and O’Toole are accused of skipping were work being done by Mertz.

City Man Indicted on Gun, Drug Charges

A man arrested by McKeesport police in December on weapons and drug charges has now been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said the four-count indictment, unsealed Wednesday, charges Jermaine Pawlik-Curry Sr., 35, with violating federal weapons and drug trafficking laws.

McKeesport police and Allegheny County probation officers went to Pawlik-Curry’s home on Dec. 18 to confirm that he was complying with the terms of his parole.

Teen Faces Drugs, Weapons Charges After Chase

A Clairton teen-ager faces a long list of charges — including for weapon and drug violations — after police said he crashed into a McKeesport patrol car, then led officers on a chase through Duquesne, West Mifflin, Dravosburg and Glassport.

McKeesport police said the car driven by the 15-year-old boy traveled down Route 837 at speeds well in excess of the posted limit, going airborne on several occasions, and causing officers to stop pursuing for safety reasons.

According to police reports, officers on routine patrol near Crawford Village on the night of Aug. 11 noticed a vehicle with darkly tinted windows in a parking lot. When the officers approached the vehicle, it drove away, police said.

A McKeesport teen-ager is being held without bail in the Allegheny County Jail in connection with a 2019 robbery and murder at the Family Dollar store on Versailles Avenue.

Master W. Thornton, 18, is charged by Allegheny County police with homicide, robbery, possession of a firearm by a minor and criminal conspiracy in the death of Dwayne Fuller, 24, of Homestead.

Police allege that Thornton and another man got into an altercation with Fuller inside the store last Oct. 17.

One Dead, One Hurt in Soles Street Shooting

A 31-year-old man died at UPMC McKeesport hospital after a shooting late Wednesday night on Soles Street.

Niko Dawson was pronounced dead in the emergency room early Thursday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He had been shot multiple times.

McKeesport police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Soles Street just before midnight for a report of “shots fired.”

According to Allegheny County police, when officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old woman had been injured by a grazing gunshot wound to the leg.

Suspect in June Homicide Arrested in Chicago

A McKeesport woman wanted in connection with a fatal shooting was arrested Wednesday in Chicago.

Gabrielle Parker, 33, was taken into custody without incident, said Michael Baughman of the U.S. Marshals Service in Pittsburgh.

Parker is charged by Allegheny County police with criminal homicide and carrying a firearm without a license in connection with the June 18 shooting death of Ericka J. Stevens, 29, of Pittsburgh, formerly of West Mifflin.
