Clairton Man Dead Following 837 Crash

A Clairton man died following a crash early Friday morning near the intersection of North Second Street and Route 837 in Duquesne.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Ralpheal Franz Greene, 30. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Allegheny County police said Greene was thrown from the vehicle following the crash. An unidentified juvenile passenger in the car was taken to the hospital and was reportedly in stable condition.

County police homicide detectives and the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating. Anyone with information about the crash is being asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

 

City Man Pleads Guilty on Federal Charges

A McKeesport man faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of child pornography.

Michael Brooks, 54, also faces a fine of up to $250,000, said a spokeswoman for acting U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman in Pittsburgh.

Brooks entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Marilyn J. Horan. Sentencing is scheduled for July 27.

City Man Charged in 2020 Shooting

A city man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a March 2020 shooting near the former site of George Washington school.

Kiesean Brown, 20, has been charged by Allegheny County police with attempted homicide and is being held in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, court officials said.

Tony Griffith, spokesman for the Allegheny County sheriff’s office, said Brown was taken into custody without incident.

Two Face Charges in Drug Investigation

Two city men have been charged in connection with a joint drug investigation by McKeesport police, county detectives and federal agencies.

Terrance L. Yarbrough, 28, and Obadiah L. Williams, 45, face formal arraignment in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court on April 15. Both men waived their right to a preliminary hearing this month before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi.

McKeesport police said a joint task force including city officers, agents of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Allegheny County district attorney’s office and the sheriff’s office raided a home in the 1900 block of Craig Street early on the morning of Aug. 4.

W.M. Man Hurt in Dravosburg Crash

A 52-year-old West Mifflin man was injured Thursday when his SUV went off of Richland Avenue and crashed into a storefront in Dravosburg.

Residents of the apartments above the building at the corner of Fourth Street and Richland have been evacuated until an engineer determines whether the structure is safe, officials said. That determination is expected some time next week.

The Salvation Army was at the scene Thursday helping the residents. Fourth Avenue is currently closed.

McKeesport police Capt. Chris Halaszynski said the driver, whose name has not been released, was northbound, heading up Dravosburg Hill just before 12 noon when the SUV left the road and went through the front of the building, winding up almost against the back wall.

Allegheny County police are investigating a one-car crash in Dravosburg late Friday night that led to the death of a Clairton man.

Alex K.A. Brown Jr., 41, was pronounced dead at a hospital early Saturday morning, the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said.

Emergency personnel said one person was ejected from the car, which rolled over.

A McKeesport woman was found dead of a gunshot wound following a car crash in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police believe Katara L. Bray, 22, was targeted and that her shooting was not random, said Maurice Matthews II, assistant public information officer, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Chase Ends in Crash, Drug Charges

A Wilkinsburg man is being held in the Allegheny County Jail after leading police on a chase that ended up with a crash inside the RIDC Industrial Center of McKeesport and a search through a local railroad yard.

Zaire Hatchin, 21, is jailed in lieu of $20,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing Feb. 8 on more than a dozen charges, including possession of drugs with intent to deliver, reckless driving, firearms violations and leaving the scene of an accident.

McKeesport police said an officer on routine patrol early Wednesday morning observed a blue Toyota sedan traveling at a high rate of speed on Lysle Boulevard, and began following it as it turned onto Coursin Street.

Former City Man Faces 5 Years in Drug Case

A former city man faces five years in federal prison after his conviction on narcotics and firearms charges.

Jared A. Ogrosky, 23, formerly of the city’s Highland Grove neighborhood, also was sentenced to three years’ probation following his release. The sentence was imposed Jan. 20 by Senior U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti in Pittsburgh.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said that Ogrosky was arrested May 10, 2019, following a search of his Bowman Avenue home. According to federal prosectors, police and federal law-enforcement officers found nine bricks of heroin in a closet inside the home, along with a loaded 9-mm pistol and a 50-round 9-mm magazine.

Monroeville Man Held in Robbery-Homicide

A Monroeville man is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond in connection with the strangulation death of a McKeesport man inside his home on Grover Street.

Devin Alexander Hale, 30, faces a preliminary hearing March 12 before Magisterial District Judge Kim Berkeley Clark in Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County police allege that Hale and another man forced their way into the home of David M. Faust, 66, on Jan. 19, and that Hale strangled him during a robbery.

Faust died Jan. 23 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Oakland, of injuries sustained in the incident, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
