Members of the McKeesport Senior High School Class of 1967 are turning the big 7-0.

And they're inviting former classmates to join them for a shared birthday celebration.

According to Barb Mendlowitz Weimer, who's chairing the Class of 1967 reunion committee, the big birthday bash will begin with a golf outing on Aug. 9 at Victory Hills Golf Course, near Round Hill Park in Elizabeth Twp.

Events will continue Aug. 10 at Jacob Woll Pavilion in Renziehausen Park with a barbecue buffet and dance.

With 756 classmates, it's been a daunting task to find people who have moved or are out of touch with our local area, said Deb Yednak, web and social media chair for the reunion committee.

Members of the McKeesport Senior High School Class of 1967 are being encouraged to update their address and email information by emailing mshs1967@yahoo.com

In addition, Weimer said the class has an online presence on Facebook at McKeesport High School Class of 1967, as well as a website at mckeesportclass1967.myevent.com, where they can register as a classmate and get additional details.

And lest any members of the Class of 1967 think they're old just because they're turning 70, Yednak noted that the first schoolhouse built in McKeesport is also celebrating a birthday --- its 187th.

Members of the McKeesport Class of 1832, however, did not return a request for comment from Tube City Almanac.
