UPDATED with comments from McKeesport Area School District.
A 16-year-old girl is reportedly in critical condition following a crash Tuesday night near McKeesport Area High School.
Allegheny County police said the accident on Washington Street, which injured two other people, happened after someone shot at the vehicle in which the girl was a passenger.
It was the second such shooting in the city in less than a week. On Friday night, police said a 23-year-old man was shot as he was getting into his car on Soles Street. The victim crashed into a utility pole as he fled the scene.
Tuesday's incident happened just before 9 p.m., following a basketball game between the McKeesport Tigers and Woodland Hills Wolverines at Neenie Campbell Gymnasium.
Allegheny County police Lt. Venerando Costa said four people were in a white Dodge Charger sedan when someone began following them, then opened fire on their car. Police said the victims had just left the basketball game.
Police have not released the names of any of the victims, but Mark Holtzman Jr., superintendent of McKeesport Area School District, said the teen-agers in the car were not students in the district.
Costa said the Dodge fled from the shooters and collided with a utility pole in the 900 block of Washington Street, rolling onto its roof in the front yard of a home there. The vehicle from which the shots were fired fled the scene.
Police believe the shots were being fired from a silver Ford F150 pickup truck with a moon roof and a covered bed, license number KKA-1469. Initial reports that a black SUV was involved in the shooting were not accurate, Costa said.
The driver of the vehicle that rolled over, a 40-year-old man, was not injured and remained at the scene, Costa said.
McKeesport police and firefighters and McKeesport Ambulance Rescue Service responded to the scene.
The 16-year-old passenger was taken by ambulance to the hospital, Costa said. Two other passengers, a 15-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man, were taken to the hospital by private vehicle, he said.
All of the injuries were caused by the crash, Costa said.
Several parked vehicles in the neighborhood also were struck by gunfire, Costa said.
Police are searching for the Ford pickup truck but do not yet know the motive for the shooting, he said.
Holtzman said McKeesport Area School District students uses police officers and metal detectors at after-school events and has for nearly 20 years.
"We will continue to manage our security at our after school events in the same fashion as the past," he said.
Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the Allegheny County police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
County police also may be reached via Twitter and Facebook.
