County Police Seek Suspects, Motive in 7th Ward Shooting

Allegheny County police have released few details in connection with a shooting Thursday night in the city's Seventh Ward that left a teen-ager hospitalized in critical condition.

In a prepared statement, county police Lt. Kenneth Ruckel said 9-1-1 emergency dispatchers received "multiple calls" just before 7 p.m. Thursday reporting that shots were being fired in the 1300 block of Hamilton Street, and that a young man was injured.

McKeesport police and paramedics responded and discovered the victim, a 15-year-old, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on Dinsmore Street near Pirl Street.

Police: Man Shot Dead During Apparent Robbery Attempt

UPDATED with additional details from Allegheny County police; age of the deceased has been corrected.


A 33-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon in Duquesne in what police described as a failed robbery attempt.

Police said the deceased man, whose name was not released, attempted to rob a jitney driver at gunpoint --- but the jitney driver, 73, turned out to be armed as well, and shot him.

No charges have been filed against the jitney driver.

Allegheny County police Lt. Ken Ruckel said in a prepared statement that investigators would turn over details of the case to the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office for a recommendation.

Area Man Charged With Soliciting Minors Online

A former school bus driver has been jailed after state investigators alleged that he tried to solicit a juvenile for sexual activity.

Todd M. Murray, 55, who investigators said has addresses in Port Vue and Elizabeth Twp., is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing April 10 before Magisterial District Judge Beth S. Mills in Forward Twp.

Murray was charged with dissemination of pornography to minors, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility.

The bus company for which Murray worked, Pennsylvania Coach Lines, has cooperated fully with investigators, said a spokesman for state Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

City Woman Charged With Homicide in 2018 Hit-Run

A McKeesport woman who was arrested last year after police said she struck a man with her car has now been charged with homicide in connection with his death.

Jakiia A. Williams, 33, was arrested Tuesday and is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing April 5 before Allegheny County Judge Kim Berkeley Clark.

The victim, Leslie Robertson, 72, died March 15 at a hospital in Shadyside of multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the accident, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office determined. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Robertson's funeral was March 21 at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Suspect Held For Court in Home Invasion

A McKeesport resident faces formal arraignment in Allegheny County Court on March 4 in connection with a suspected home invasion during which she was shot in the leg by the homeowner.

Police said both people have a previous relationship and that the incident stemmed from an earlier argument.

Tanya M. Johnson, 34, was ordered held for court on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault (domestic violence) and making terroristic threats following a preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Eugene Riazzi. She is currently free on bond.

Five Juveniles Charged With Break-Ins at Man's Home

Five juveniles were arrested after McKeesport police believe they broke into a Jenny Lind Street man's home at least twice, vandalizing his bedroom and stealing items.

The teen-agers --- two 17-year-old males, a 16-year-old male, and two females, ages 13 and 16 --- were charged by police with burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief and their parents were notified.

At least three of the youths were residents of a group home on Olive Street, police said.

McKeesport police said the first incident occurred overnight on Jan. 13. Police said a 55-year-old resident of the 700 block of Jenny Lind returned home from work early Jan. 14 and found the front door of his home had been damaged.

Missing Dravosburg Woman Found Dead, Police Say; Suspect Arrested

Remains believed to be those of a Dravosburg woman who has been missing since Nov. 6 were found Wednesday morning just outside of Sutersville, police said.

Heather Rene Short, 46, was last seen at a residence in the Homeville section of West Mifflin where she was visiting friends. Allegheny County police have arrested a man identified as Dale Cooper, 36, no address given, in connection with her death.

Cooper was arrested Wednesday night in Homestead and will be charged with criminal homicide, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse, Allegheny County police Lt. Ken Ruckel said in a prepared statement. Cooper is currently in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting formal arraignment, police said.

Missing Girl, 16, Found Safe in City; Two Men Jailed

An East Pittsburgh man is being held without bail on charges that he kidnapped a 16-year-old girl from her home in Penn Hills.

The victim, Marjani Aquil, was found Wednesday night by McKeesport police at a residence in Christy Park, a county police spokeswoman said. Aquil had suffered facial injuries during her abduction and was treated at a local hospital, county police said.

Jermaine Laquay Rodgers, 19, was arrested by McKeesport police and the Allegheny County Police SWAT team following a three-hour standoff.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing Jan. 28 before Magisteral District Judge Anthony L. DeLuca, court documents indicate.

Dravosburg Man Charged Following Hit-Run Accident

A Dravosburg man faces charges after McKeesport police accused him of deliberately striking a car being driven by an off-duty police officer, and then fleeing the scene.

Edward M. Gibson, 31, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, leaving the scene of an accident involving an attended vehicle and reckless driving.

He remains free on his own recognizance pending a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. March 28 before Magisterial District Judge Richard D. Olasz Jr.

McKeesport police said the off-duty officer, whose name was not released, was on Maple Avenue just before 11 p.m. Jan. 5 when another driver in a Jeep started to tailgate him.

Few Details Released in Connection With Monday Shooting

Few details have been released in connection with a shooting Monday night that left a Christy Park woman in critical condition.

Friends and family members have identified the victim as 46-year-old Stacey Stinson. A crowdfunding page has been set up at GoFundMe to raise money for her medical care.

McKeesport police referred questions to Allegheny County police.

Allegheny County police said in a prepared statement that the victim was shot once inside her home on 31st Avenue just before 7 p.m. Monday.
